Hardware Linear supply The Switch X is powered by a R-core based linear power supply that provides precision regulation and noise cancellation using remote sensing inside the Switch X. This provides a level of regulation and low noise better then any other linear on the market. The next gen R-Core transformer provides better noise isolation then a traditional toroid transformer Unlike any other linear on the market the Switch X linear is designed to handle noise cancellation and does so over a wide bandwidth. This provides a magnitude lower level of noise and better regulation then any other device on the market Power cable The switch X has a attached power cable that is impedance matched and utilizes multiple strands of high purity sliver and high purity copper with a teflon insulation. These are combined into a large gauge Litz arrangement. These are then cut to a exact standing wave length to match the desired frequency and impedance needed to do the best noise cancellation at the CPU chip / SFP module Main board In depth analytical work was done with state of the art instrumentation including the best analog test equipment and digital measurement platforms on a variety of electrical aspects of the Switch X. The jitter and noise on the datalines to the RAM, SSD and SFP+ Modules was studied in depth and vastly improved. This was accomplished by carefully matching the chip current spectra and various things like trace lengths with the exact value and type of caps needed to supply the circuit section with extremely low impedance power at the chip power pins at the frequencies needed. This also isolates each circuit element from each other and stops noise cross contaminating circuits. This then creates much cleaner waveforms on the data buses and signals like SFP+ and vastly lowers jitter on bus and modulation signals. Voltage regulation The voltage regulators are upgraded, very carefully tuned and impedance matched to the chip current spectra The Switch X has triple stage voltage regulation. The 1st stage is in the linear the 2 additional stages are inside the unit. This further improves accuracy at the chip and provides very stable long term and short term regulation along with further isolation from any kind of voltage variations and noise. There is a very large value electrolytic cap used on power input to provide vast amounts of power reserve on the main supply used before the dual regulation. This handles the low frequency current requirements in the 0.1hz to 5hz range caused by the CPU and is part of the matched impedance for the linear. Each type of cap was tested in circuit to be the best possible type for that exact location in circuit Clocks The clock chips are lab grade and low phase noise. Phase noise is more important to audio then the exact frequency. The hyper low noise power supplies make for lowered phase noise. A clock chip located on the board and close to the chip is super important to keep phase noise low. Use of a external clock always results in phase noise issues VS a on board clock Case The use of a aluminum case is by design. Copper cases have eddy currents and can act more like mirrors to reflect back low frequency noise. Aluminum does not have these issues. Grounding Grounding is extremely effective because of the extreme isolation of the R-Core transformer. The Switch X comes with a grounding post but can also be really good fully isolated without grounding. Other refinements Each SFP+ port has its own RF isolated power supply that is highly regulated with vast power reserves and monolythic ceramic caps The power connector is a 4 pin gold plated high current custom made connector for the Switch X The Switch X hardware is based on a Mikrotik system and then highly reengineered by Dejitter it. Mikrotik is a 30 year old 1 billion Euro networking company based in Latvia

Software The Switch X runs Router OS by Mikrotik Router OS is known in the networking community as the Swiss Army Knife of networking. RouterOS is on its 26th year in the industry. The Switch X uses the full version of RouterOS which includes a vast number of protocols, interfaces, GUIs and tools. It has nearly every networking aspect covered. In addition to normal networking functions it also has tools that allow nearly every aspect of networking to be tested and monitored down to packet inspection. It even has a powerful scripting language so programs can be written for it or copy pasted from various sources online. RouterOS is very active in development and has new features and protocols monthly with beta updates weekly. It has a extensive online manual, a huge user base with a very active forum. There are a huge number of youtube videos on all aspects of use. They have a active newsletter. It also has online classes running nearly all the time and has regional in person training offered all over the world. It has certification programs and has a vast number of certified network engineers all over the world available The system can be configured using a nice custom GUI Winbox, a web interface, SSH command line or RS232 The interface is extremely in-depth yet also easy to use and provides indepth information - Example screen shots

How it works - Clean Networking & more This paper describes clean networking on the Switch X The Switch X can have any number of ports assigned for dirty or clean use. This can be changed by the client easily Each SFP+ port can use a SFP module that allows nearly a unlimited number of options port by port. Ethernet 10/100/1000/2.5/5/10 Gbps, Optical - all forms single / multi mode. Direct Attach Cables.. This allows the ultimate in flexibility and tuning to get the best performance in your system.

The future The switch X is designed for 10Gbps. Internet providers are rapidly deploying multigig. 2Gbps is routine now in most cities. The faster backplane and processing of the packets results in lower latency and jitter. With a multigig modem and multigig house router that does 10Gbps the Switch X can provide a 10Gbps connection. This is the only device in the audio world ready for the 10 Gbps future. 1Gbps SFP modules can be used if preferred and if preferred you can even do 100Mbps or 10 Mbps while still having a 10Gbps connection to the internet RouterOS is continuously evolving on a weekly/monthly basis keeping up with all the new things in networking. New protocols are incorporated very quickly. With its modular design, as your system changes you can change interfaces. You can go optical, try out Direct Attach Cables, try different forms of optical. No matter what interface your new audio devices have, there is a SFP module you can plug in on the Switch X to interface to it.

AES67 / Dante / Ravenna Speaking of the future.. The Switch X has everything needed to do the new audio streaming formats and is setup and ready to go out of the box For professional use in studios and post production AES67 / Dante are standard. The Switch X supports everything needed to do these including in depth QoS configurations. Ravenna is also used in high end studio work but is now filtering down to high end audio use. The Switch X comes ready to go out of the box for Ravenna systems and can handle 16 streams of DSD256 For professional applications contact us as custom systems are available with more ports and other features
What does all this techno mumbo jumbo translate to ? The Switch X goes where no other audio network appliance does in hardware and software - its a new performance standard The audio packet electrical signals are WAY cleaner The CPU/RAM/SSD are all dejittered - A Dejitter It exclusive Its ready for the future and adaptable to anything needed now It will produce the best digital audio streaming experience on the market No one is close in performance, technology or engineering
